Cycling
As you can tell from the picture on the home page, I am a cyclist - I love clocking up
kilometres on the road, and have completed several sportives including
RideLondon three times. I also enjoy cycling with the kids (my secret plan is to train them up into road cyclists so I have an excuse to go cycling more!) I'm also a big fan of professional cycling. I keep a dedicated
cycling blog and have profiles on various cycling social media sites such as
Strava and
VeloViewer.
Reading
Reading has played a very important part in my life. I don't get much time these days to sit with a book (or Kindle) but I still try to read as much as possible. For a long time I was working my way through the
BBC Big Read Top 100 - it took me many years but I finally managed it! I've also had Marvel Unlimited for a few years and have worked my way through various comic events. My favourite authors include Douglas Adams, George Orwell, Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. I have a
Goodreads profile where I keep track of what I've been reading.
Video Games
I've been playing games since I got my first computer (a BBC Micro B) aged 8 and had to type in the code myself. From there I've progressed via SNES, Megadrive, Gameboy, PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, Wii, DS, Xbox 360, PS3 and Xbox One to the Switch, Xbox Series S and PS4. Having kids means I've missed out on many classic games but I'm slowly catching up! My favourite games include The Legend of Zelda series (especially Breath of the Wild and Ocarina of Time), Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Horizon: Zero Dawn, The Last of Us, Life is Strange, Nier: Automata and the Metal Gear Solid series.
Film & TV
I love watching films, although I've been forced to watch more family-friendly fare in recent years (thanks kids!) I am still trying to work my way through the
IMDb top 250 list but it's an ever-changing challenge - I'm currently on 125/250. I'm also active on the
Letterboxd website. I'm a massive fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and am looking forward to Phase 4! I don't watch as much TV these days but recent favourites include Taskmaster, The Sandman, Stranger Things and Ms Marvel.
