Age of Empires in development for Android devices

Microsoft have confirmed that their popular title ‘Age of Empires’ will be coming to mobile devices soon. The game, which will be released for iOS and Android devices, is in development by a Japanese company called KLab. The current scheduled release date is before the end of March 2014.

It seems a bit strange that Microsoft would allow a game to be developed for devices competing with their own Windows 8 phones – or perhaps this is a way of stretching the reach of the Xbox brand across multiple devices? It will be interesting to see if any other Microsoft franchises make their way to iOS or Android devices – will we see a portable version of Halo any time soon?

Not looking good for Falcon Pro Twitter app

After a second reset of the API tokens for Falcon Pro, it looks like the developer is now facing the wrath of Twitter. Apparently all of the access keys have been used up again, which according to the developer on Google+ is down to Twitter. He has removed the app from the Play Store until he can come up with a plan. However, the last line of the post is ‘I’m pretty depressed right now, thought I would have more time, but it looks like the end of Falcon Pro is near 🙁

This is disappointing as Falcon Pro is a great app – it’s the app I use on my Android devices for accessing Twitter and it does such a good job that I can’t imagine having to go back to the official app. Hopefully something can be sorted out so that the developer’s good work does not go to waste. Users looking for a workaround can check his Google+ post for older versions of the app.

BBC release new Weather app

The BBC have released a weather app for Android devices (as well as iOS devices). The app allows users to see the weather forecast for their local position as well as for other places (accessed by searching). The Android version also includes a widget for displaying on the launcher.

The app is free and is very slick, it’s much more usable than the mobile weather site. Get it from the Play store now!
